Blakeslee Foreman’s Club
The Blakeslee Foreman's Club is an employee run safety committee. This unique organization dates back to the 1940's and is unique in it's kind. Membership consists of key employees, foremen, and those in a supervisory position here at BAC. Its purpose is to review and oversee the safety program created by BAC. The Foreman's Club is a completely separate non-profit entity which is run solely by the employees. The club is effective in communicating issues surrounding safety and preventive injury training. The Club consists of a fifteen person elected Board of Director's with a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and committee members that meet monthly.
The Foreman's Club has been an effective vehicle in conveying the necessity of safety long before the existence of OSHA. They also reward employees who notice a potential hazard or safety violation on the job. The club also hosts a dinner bimonthly for all its members to promote job site safety. Invited guests speak each dinner in their area of expertise have been trenching and excavation, first aid - CPR, hazardous materials, fall protection, respirators, fire safety, water safety, and many other topics.
Former Foreman's Club President Kevin White states, "Communication and training are a huge part of this company's safety policy. That is why I like working for BAC. I have an open relationship with our workers and I value their opinion. I take everyone's suggestions very seriously."
